In June 2019, Huawei launched the Kirin 810, the first smartphone chip that uses a neural processing unit (NPU) based on Da Vinci architecture. The release offered a glimpse at two AI chips with Da Vinci architecture: the Ascend 310, an extremely efficient AI processor for low-power computing, and the Ascend 910, which has the highest computing density of any single chip in the world. This entirely new architecture addresses major challenges to AI adoption, and increases the efficiency and flexibility of AI computing with multiple key technologies like our high-performance 3D Cube computing engine. In October 2018, Huawei released its Da Vinci architecture for AI chips.
